🧡🖤🤍 This is what it’s all about! Amazing scenes on Scilly! #BlackburnianWarbler #ScillyBirds
The #BlackburnianWarbler is one of the few birds named after a woman. Anna Blackburne (1726-1793) was an English naturalist. Her scientific skills were so well respected that people sent her specimens from around the world. Philipp Ludwig Statius Müller named it in her honour.

Last of my few days on #IslesofScilly and had to go back for seconds with the other Agnes birders of the incredible #BlackburnianWarbler on #Bryher … quite a showy bird today! #Scillybirds BirdGuides RareBirdAlertUK
Just one more (maybe) … a slow mo video of the ‘bird of the century’ (per David Bradshaw) the archetypal ‘CMF’ (as birders from the 1980s May recall!) #BlackburnianWarbler

The breeding male, with vivid orange in face and throat, is unmistakable; females and immatures show a hint of this coloration, but more important is the unique triangular facial pattern of black (or gray). #BirdWatching #BirdPhotography #BirdPhotos #birding
