Out on Wetland Bird Survey with my trusty Opticron binocular. 2 of 3 sites completed with a Sedge warbler in good voice this morning at one of the sites. What a beautiful morning to be out. #natureconnection #getoutside #getoutdoors #birdsmatter
Lovely, albeit distant and hazy, views of the #bluethroat at WWT Slimbridge this morning. What a stunner!

Some British birds are so common they’re often overlooked, it’s not until you take the time to properly notice them, that you realise how striking they are. A prime example of this is the Mallard. It’s amazing that such mesmerising colours can go unnoticed!

The #SpottedFlycatcher is an insectivorous songbird that favours open woodlands, parks and gardens. These agile birds are fun to watch as they repeatedly fly out from a perch to catch unsuspecting insects in mid-air. This characteristic behaviour is known as sallying.

Can you help us find one of the rarest jewels in Northern Ireland? 💎
The iridescent Forester moth was once common across the UK, but now in Northern Ireland has just one known breeding site left.

With compact bodies and smaller ears than Brown Hares, #MountainHares look like rabbits at first glance. Their small ears are suited for life on the wind-beaten hills as they lose heat at a slower rate. In spring their fur turns grey-brown to provide camouflage among the heather.
⚠️A reminder that our annual photo comp closes tomorrow for any last minute entrants out there📸
The 2024 photo comp is sponsored by OM SYSTEM Cameras in association with Campkins Cameras with support from Opticron
