For me was very special with Spud the Hedgehog being taken for release followed by Mr Prickles, who I’d overwintered, being released.
Here’s short video of his release that also tells some of the story of his care.

Brilliant day at Kielder Forest learning all about pine martens and how to survey for and monitor them. Great fun learning about den boxes, thermal imaging, bait stations and pine marten poo! Colin Roberts LaBMammalGroup Vincent Wildlife

Sadly, even in wildlife community, I see rude & hurtful comments on social media. Remember, just because you’re writing words on a screen rather than in person doesn’t diminish damage they can do.
You don’t know how fragile mental health of person reading your words is.

The wee favourite fox turned up earlier today. Still operating on 3 legs, maybe not going to heal this time given she has had the injury for several weeks. ENHS LaBMammalGroup

This is what makes heartbreak of wildlife rescue and rehab worth it! I was struggling after tough week of daily call out/drop offs of rescues where majority were too poorly to survive. However Spud, who had been with me for a few weeks, being released really raised my spirits!

Been a few years since I last had a hedgehog in my garden. Now have one using my compost bin as a home. Has a feed then exits into neighbours garden via access hole in the fence. Returns a few hours later. 😁 LaBMammalGroup

Veering towards Pygmy Shrew (Sorex minutus) based on length of tail being relatively long, colour paler brown and snout more conical. Unmarked as far as I could see, possibly dropped by a raptor? On E-W path across Goose Green. LaBMammalGroup Scottish Wildlife Trust ENHS

Just a wee reminder about Crowdfunder I’ve set up to upgrade my wildlife rehab facilities & to register as Animal Welfare Establishment based in Scottish Borders which allows me to look after more than 7 rescues at once. I’m currently full with 7 rescues.

It's May! Bats are fully active and feeding. Females start forming maternity colonies and looking for suitable nursery sites, such as buildings or trees. Males roost on their own or in small groups.

Out small mammal trapping with a group at Mauldsheugh Wood Community Wildlife Project in Selkirk this morning. We caught two Wood Mice and a Bank Vole. Was great to be able to show the difference between mice and voles.

We have seen this Pine Marten - Martes martes tail wagging several times before. Often enough to know it means I can smell a Wood Mouse! LaBMammalGroup
