Bit of Pied Wagtail nest building activity. I’ll be checking this nest every 3-5 days as part of the albert Nest Record Scheme. During my checks over the next few weeks I’ll be tracking the progress of any eggs laid and their hopeful development into fledgelings.

Fantastic news that ourselves & Dr Morgan Hughes have a paper out in albert Ringing and Migration journal. The paper, 'Applications of thermal imaging for bird surveys: examples from the field' details the group's innovation and years of hard work in the field. So Happy!

Had a recent encounter with two of these gorgeous little birds while bird ringing with my albert ringing group Sorby Breck RG

These bird have tiny beaks designed for fine seeds like birch, alder and younger conifers. 1/3

Blue Tit Update! They’re almost ready to fly the nest - all 8 of them... albert estimate that blue tit chicks can eat 100 caterpillars a day - so the adults looking after our brood are bringing in ~800 🐛 every day. Who needs insecticide? 😉 (Beat that BBC Springwatch 😂)

I’ve been lucky enough to have a good population of these striking summer migrants on my BBS (Breeding Bird Survey) this year.
