The Writers’ Union of Canada is saddened by the passing of Alice Munro, author, bookseller, Canada’s only winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature (2013), and Life Member of TWUC. Munro is among the names typed into the roll at the very first Union AGM in Ottawa in 1973.

I'm pleased to have published in The British Columbia Review (formerly Ormsby) this appreciation of Hugh Stephens' excellent summary history of copyright law.

The story of Canada in the history of world Š has quite a few embarrassing chapters. Stephens elucidates.

It was a working weekend for me. But joyful work.

Thanks to Kim Fahner and Waubgeshig Rice for allowing me to record what will be the keynote for the TWUC AGM next month.

Kim’s dog, Seamus, makes several cameos.
