Skagen bound after a sexy few weeks at Ottenby. Ill undoubtedly be back but for now its been 😍😍

Back from Ottenby and the highlight was, without a doubt, a new record year for Waxwing with over 85 caught. A few stunning adults also showing retained SS.

It may just be a Wren but I thought this was awesome! A Wren I ringed in my season at Ottenby back in 2018 was recaptured (sadly by a cat 😓) in France!! This is why I ring!! Sorry for the crappy map don’t know how to do the fancy ones...

Just out in Ornis Svecica: A couple of years ago we trapped a 1cy male hybrid Common x Black Redstart at Ottenby. Very few autumn hybrids have been documented, so have a look at the paper linked below if you are curious to learn more about the bird!

As well as birds galore, there were plenty of mammals to see at Ottenby. I was particularly enamored with this Brown Hare, which sheltered within a few feet of me, in a dawn squall before galloping off as the skies cleared.

Yet another cool #motus registration from our Yellow-browed Warblers! Trapped and tagged at #Ottenby on Sep 14 and then recorded on four different receivers around the German bight September 26-28, before disappearing into the Dutch inland. #birdmigration #animaltracking
