Well, that little dot (baffle) inside their nostrils allows them to breathe normally during high-speed dives.

Somebody is in her favourite storm shelter on the bedroom window ledge.
I will be woken up in a few hours by her pellets in though....
She was born a few hundred yards away in the barn, but appears to be subservient to the Barn Owl.
