CMRT call out for a male with a lower leg injury sustained during an avalanche. The climbers were able to self rescue down to the coire floor, they were met by the team and stretchered back to the ski area. Multiple reports of avalanches in Coire an t-Sneachda this afternoon.

Sub fossil birch, from a peat bog today in the Cairngorms, alongside the much more common ancient pine stumps. Going by research on the pine in this area, this birch is probably over 3,000 years old!

Yesterday evening two climbers were reported to be crag fast on the 'Needle', a 260m route on the Shelterstone crag. A Coastguard helicopter flew to the area direct from another tasking in Glencoe and established that assistance was required.

Our team will be heading to the beautiful Aviemore, on edge of the Cairngorm National Park, for the APSE events Scotland Fleet, Waste and Grounds Seminar 2024 next week (Tuesday 21st - Friday 24th May).

This has to be one of the most-photographed landscapes in the Cairngorms. The view from the bridge over the River Spey, at Boat of Garten, looking towards the snow-capped mountains in the distance. The beautiful fresh green of Springtime is already passing as Summer draws near.
