TIL Thomas and George Kurian are identical twins.

They both grew up in India, came to the US to study at Princeton, did Stanford GSB, McKinsey, Oracle.

Thomas is the CEO of Google Cloud

George is the CEO of NetApp ($21B market cap)

I had to say no a lot. It was the only way to maintain a streamlined, focused search experience. It wasn't popular but was necessary.

While I never worked there, old-time Google friends have told me one of the most valuable things marissamayer did during her many years leading search experience was simple: saying no.

For those early years Google said no to the death-by-a-thousand cuts changes to search.

In 2010, YouTube had 800M active users + streamed 2B+ videos daily.

But internally, we were flying by the seat of our pants.
