It’s shameful how the administration has left a great public servant like Malley hanging out in limbo, allowing opponents of Iran diplomacy to grind their axes against his reputation. He’s owed a quick resolution of the investigation.

If a pro-Palestinian student had done this, it would have been labeled a terrorist attack, the president would have denounced it, Brett Stephens would have written eight columns about it, and Congress would already have resurrected the Alien and Sedition Acts.

This, from Patrick Gaspard is worth a read. So much nuance gets lost about protest, resistance and change. He's been in the activist/organizer trenches; there's a lot to digest in here.

The idea that the government should ban citizens from accessing foreign media because of its (purported) viewpoint is totally inconsistent with the most basic democratic and free-speech principles. This is a practice that has long been associated with the most repressive regimes.

British-Palestinian surgeon Ghassan Abu Sitta, banned in Germany because of its mad policy on pro-Palestinian speech, is apparently now banned throughout the Schengen area and can’t speak at a conference at the French senate. theguardian.com/world/article/…
