Yesterday, I was proud to take part in the discussion on the future of the EU at a conference organized by Hamilton Lugar School at Indiana University Institute for European Studies. We tackled the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on our institutions and the creative ways in which we can impove policy-making.

In 2020, women were paid 14% less than men in equal value positions. #EqualPayDay is an occasion to put the spotlight on this injustice. But addressing it will require a collective and long-term effort and the cooperation of the EU, Council of Europe and all our member states.

While programme cooperation btw/ #EU and Council of Europe has reached its highest level in 2020, demonstrating their partnership for #HumanRights , #RoL , #democracy , a new general agreement was signed btw the two institutions, paving the way for future joint action

Today, we're celebrating the 70th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights.

It is a powerful and unique tool ensuring that the rights of all Europeans are protected, promoting democracy and the rule of law across the continent.

Thanks to 🇬🇷 for its great work as Chair of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers!

We hope the upcoming 🇩🇪 Chairmanship of CoE, which will overlap with Germany's Presidency of the EU Council, will be an opportunity to promote UE-CoE cooperation even further.

The #AthensDeclaration adopted today stresses the need to respond to public health crisises in full respect for human rights, democracy and the rule of law.

Ongoing conflicts also remain major concerns, while numerous new challenges arise.

Today at Ministerial Meeting of Council of Europe in Athens, strong speech by 🇬🇷 Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis : we can succeed only through the citizens' trust based on democratic practices.
