Don't think about what can happen in a month.

Just focus on the 24 hours in front of you and do what you can to get closer to where you want to be.

Celebrating the growth and achievements of students just never gets old and is one of the very best parts of this job!

As a first-generation college student, you may encounter opportunities you never knew existed. You may also encounter situations that will make you reconsider your chosen path. Remember that it is perfectly acceptable to make changes, as your interests may change over time.

My first ever publication is my NatRevMaterials piece about the #DisabledInSTEM Mentorship Program nature.com/articles/s4157… and it truly feels like a huge accomplishment to be recognized for all of my work towards inclusion in STEM!

The people who we mentor are not us and their goals are not usually our goals. So, instead of focusing on what we would do, we can help them focus on what they should do in light of:

-their priorities
-their choices
-their strengths
-their path

There's no 'right' way to write.

Some people write as they think and think as they write

Some people think first and then find the best words later

Some people just need to get words on the page and then think it through

It's about finding the approach that's *right* for you.

Academia definitely has challenges. However, it also has a lot of wonderful people who are in it for the goal of supporting and uplifting other wonderful people, and seeing that happen makes me smile.

As you travel the path towards your goals, it’s essential to understand your why, as you will encounter moments that will test your resolve. Opt to pursue endeavors that fill you with purpose and confidence, embrace each step of the way, and seek guidance from a support network.

I get so much joy from seeing other people flourishing. Cannot imagine seeing other people shine and thinking that somehow affects my own light.
