António Guterres UN experts have already warned that continued Israeli military operations will result in the mass ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. ASEAN, and the rest of the world, must not allow a genocide to happen on their watch.

António Guterres This resolution reflects the bare minimum that must be done, namely an immediate ceasefire and access for humanitarian aid. The int'l community must stop any further aggression from Israel in Gaza, whether through airstrikes or a ground invasion.

We echo António Guterres statement that the attacks on Oct. 7 do not justify Israel’s collective punishment of Gaza, just as the decades-long suffering of Palestinians under Israeli occupation do not justify attacks on Israeli civilians.

APHR is deeply saddened by the horrific loss of life in Israel and Palestine in the last few weeks and strongly urges all ASEAN member states, as well as all other states, to vote for the resolution circulated in the UN General Assembly Emergency Session.

“We share President Jokowi’s admirable sentiments about making ASEAN a bastion of religious tolerance & harmony,” APHR Board Member Indonesian MP Eva K Sundari said. “However, in order to achieve this, Indonesia as ASEAN chair must keep up the momentum by taking concrete actions.”
