Most transformation efforts fail. Major new research from Bain & Company says only 12% of big change programmes produce lasting results. They identify six 'good practices' for large scale change strategies that greatly increase the likelihood of success:
1) Treat transformation

Why 'merit' is flawed:
Women aren't offered career building opportunities, so when the promotion comes, of course women aren't qualified.
This is a self perpetuating lack of diversity amplified for under-represented groups in medicine. In group bias is a powerful force.

Gender equity requires redefinition of 'success' for all. The UK though seems to be well ahead of Australia with 'return to work', but this is only improved in the last 10 years.
