Weather looking very drifty over the weekend! South-easterlies across the country, weather might be a bit too nice for birds to drop in until they hit the west coast? Our prediction is that 🇺🇦🕊 Bardsey Lodge & Bird Obs will score on Sunday and then Fair Isle Bird Obs Mon/Tues
**Stay on Bardsey island - 20 % off for stays at the observatory lodge in the next 2 weeks** email [email protected]
We've got some proper good guides this spring; incl. Jacob Spinks & Zach Pannifer - you'll be with sharp eyes & knowledable brains! Supported, of course, by obs manager Rob Hunton 🌍🦉 & warden/ringer, Mr Paul Collins.
Plus(!) green travel via the Spurn Explorer from Hull, rewarded!
Are you taking part in #BigRiverWatch this weekend? 🔍 Rivers are a vital habitat for many species & if you enjoyed your survey, why not sign up to our Waterways Breeding Birds Survey too? 🦆 Discover how to get involved ➡️ bto.org/our-science/pr…

Dense fog dropped a nice selection of birds, started the day off with two Sedge Warblers clinging to the side of the cliff!
Other highlights included the first Redstart of the year. Wood Warbler, two Pied & Spotted Flycatchers, Tree Pipit & a pale Willow Warbler #BardseyBirds
Sea defences were removed from Brownsea South shore in 2011 to allow natural coastal processes to take place. These pics, taken by me 2014 and 2024, show the effect of wind, wave, and the inevitable human action on the Barne's kiln site. And in another 10 years...? #WildBrownsea
We've had another terrific season of the School Bird Boat Project. Each year we take out up to 1200 kids from the local area on boat trips around Poole Harbour at no cost to the children!
The trips have been very kindly funded by LUSH UK. Read more⬇️
