TBH, seeing civil rights lawyers in other states emphasize the importance of shifting focus onto state court litigation (given the sad state of the federal judiciary) had me like, “😒 makes sense in THEIR state.” Don’t get me wrong, MSSC is very conservative, but this feels goood

Community-based orgs like those in JXN Undivided operate data-driven, road-tested programs that demonstrably address local challenges & which could & should be expanded through gov't investment. should learn from local experts & resist discriminatory impulses to take over

With , Mississippi lawmakers are pushing to create a court system in Jackson, a city that is over 80% Black, with judges appointed entirely by white state officials instead of elected by residents.

JACKSON, MS. THIS is what we're having to deal with! A sitting official who ADMITS he doesn't like the Mayor of JXN. & he looks to be blaming 'ignorant Blacks' for how they vote. The goal here is to run a white candidate (or a Black candidate that can be controlled)

Hinds County Legislators now speaking on the floor against HB1020 CCID (Capitol Complex Improvement District Expansion Bill) which will create a small predominantly white city within the city of Jackson, paid for by the residents of Jackson. Watch now.

The bedrock of our democracy is the ability to vote. The CCID Expansion Bill HB1020 will remove that power of residents in Jackson. If we allowed this to happen in Jackson, it is likely going to happen in other cities and towns throughout Mississippi.

Representative Johnson from Natchez says the CCID HB1020 removes the power of the people of Jackson to have a say in their governance, to be self-determined. STOP HB1020! youtube.com/live/HtruSFI0a…

Representative Blackmon from Canton was strong, clear and concise in speaking directly to the point of the CCID EXPANSION BILL HB 1020 - he said, ‘this bill is essentially a land grab. Not about crime.’

Senior Circuit court judge Winston Kidd says the proposed legislation is unconstitutional because it would take away the right of judges to hear cases in the districts in which they were elected.
