ICYMI: Earlier today, a Biden Administration official publicly acknowledged to Chairman US Rep. Mike Turner that Russia is developing an anti-satellite nuclear weapon that could threaten U.S. assets in space.

Placing a nuclear weapon in orbit is a clear violation of the Outer Space Treaty.

During Armed Services GOP’ Strat Forces Subcom hearing, the Assist. Sec. of Defense for Space Policy confirmed that Russia is developing an anti-satellite weapon capable of carrying a nuclear device.

Last week, Russia vetoed a UN Security Council resolution that called on all nations to prevent a nuclear arms race in outer space.

At today’s Armed Services GOP hearing, I asked Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III why President Biden has yet to declassify the extent of Russia’s anti-satellite capabilities in space.

Last week, Chairman US Rep. Mike Turner and RM @JAHimes led a bipartisan CODEL to Europe, where they met with @IAEAorg Director General @RafaelMGrossi and Ambassador Jane Hartley Jane Hartley.

The purpose of their CODEL was to gain a better understanding of the current national security landscape.

@JAHimes and I recently led a bipartisan CODEL to Vienna and London alongside Rep. Elise Stefanik, Darin LaHood, Rep. Austin Scott, Rep. Dan Crenshaw, Rep. Stacey Plaskett, Rep. Jimmy Gomez, and Chrissy Houlahan.

This month, the House passed House Committee on Natural Resources’ EXPLORE Act, which included my Outdoors for All Act – legislation to expand recreational opportunities in urban communities.

This bill enhances opportunities for families in my district to enjoy the Miami Valley’s great outdoor spaces.
