Thanks to the wonderful drying weather, full Visitor Trail loop around Phase 1 is now open. Lots of hobbies on site, booming bittern, cuckooing cuckoo, cattle & GW egrets. Floating Bridge & Boardwalk still closed awaiting inspection & repair. Sedge warbler by Stuart Carlton
Massive thank you to Graham and James Wilkinson for giving our info board a re-vamp π Before and after shots below. Seen on site this week... Cattle Egrets, Bar-tailed Godwits, Cuckoo, lots of Swifts, 2 GWEs, Yellow Wagtails and Arctic Terns
Our cunning plan is progressing nicely & we're aiming to re-open (albeit it partially - just the section of Trail between Beach Hut & Corfe Castle) on 22nd April from 10:00. After a frustrating 6 month closure it'll be great welcoming people back to Langford!! Photo James Wilkinson
Reserve still closed following winter floods βΉοΈ will the rain ever stop?? The car park and the 4 mile public footpath following the outer perimeter of the reserve are however open. Osprey, brambling & black kite seen yesterday! Found by Mark Dawson photo by James Wilkinson
Quick update to confirm that we are still (!!!!) closed due to flooding, however water levels are almost back to normal & we'll soon be able to leap into action tidying and repairing in preparation for re-opening... hopefully in just a few weeks time π€ Photo by Stuart Carlton
Please be aware tree surgeons are working on the large ash at the woodland entrance & on a nearby oak on Friday (8th March), it may impact on access so we recommend avoiding the area on the day if at all possible. Thanks!

Sadly the reserve is still closed. We've filled up with Trent water for the 4th time this winter! Hoping to have dried out and be able to re-open in March?? First bittern of the year heard booming yesterday. 4 GWEs on site, plus 3 cattle egrets in the area. Photo Stuart Carlton
Not wanting to sound like a broken Christmas record, but we have flooded again! For the third time this winter, a new record for the site, not necessarily one we wanted to break, but we've done it anyway. Photo of the very floaty Floating Bridge by Stuart Carlton
With flooding still presenting soggy problems on the reserve, Langford will unfortunately remain closed until some point in the New Year. Car park and access to the public footpath will however be open, but they might be wet. [Marsh Harrier by Stuart Carlton] ... Notts Birdwatchers
The winter moves on & sadly we're still closed due to flooding. With the Trent so high we can't shift water off site & in fact more water is currently spilling in from Slough Dyke. Footpath around Phase 3 impassable in places. Re-opening date still unknown. Photo Stuart Carlton
Unfortunately Langford Lowfields remains closed . Water levels have dropped off a bit, but sections of the trails are still fully submerged. Not great for us, but the ducks and herons seem very happy with the situation. Still not clear when we'll be able to re-open Notts Birdwatchers
After a detailed scientific assessment, we've concluded that there's a massive amount of water on the reserve! So much that we're full to the brim & it's spilling out the sides. Car park also underwater today. It's going to be a while before we re-open! Notts Birdwatchers RSPB England
Langford Lowfields is now closed due to flooding. Car park & local public footpaths remain open but may be flooded and if so, should be avoided. Full extent of situation not yet assessed, but reserve to remain closed until further notice RSPB England RSPB Notts Birdwatchers
Big day at Langford! Razorbill found and photographed by James Wilkinson ... also bittern, beardies, blackcap and a Bewick's swan π
