Roderick Williams Craigmillar Voices, a community choir supported by Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s Creative Learning team were at the concert last night. For most of them it was their first experience of a classical music concert. One of them told me afterwards that “it was magic, every minute of it!”

New policy. Every time a company announces a season with no women composers, they also have to publish a statement explaining why they have decided to omit half the population from their programming. Because by this stage a woman-free programme really is a choice.
