A beautiful glass bowl, made in a pale bluey-green grass with a ridged pattern all around it. Made about 2000 years ago, probably in Italy, it is a wonderful example of Roman glasswork in the early Imperial period Archaeology

Check out this stunning Roman hand shovel!

It looks just like the ones we use every day on National Highways A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet (as modelled by Archaeologist Solomon)

The Romans used these as fire shovels 🔥 We found it in an area with evidence of industry, including lots of charcoal!

Roman fortifications built on the Gask Ridge in Perthshire and Angus, Scotland - it’s a series of forts and fortlets connected by a road. Probably dates to the 1st century/earliest invasion of Scotland with some evidence of later Roman activity@

The fantastic Ardoch Roman fort near Perth is considered one of the best preserved series of military earthworks in the Roman empire. For us it’s particularly interesting as a possible, Agricolan military annexe has been identified north of the fort

Most Romans were not legionaries as many movies, books and pages would have us believe. Rather, they were normal people just like most of us today.🏛️

“On April 19 I baked bread”

The site of a Roman temple in the middle of Greenwich Park. Not much to be seen on the ground. One of the sites covered in my new book on Roman London
