Thank you Chair Ruslan Stefanchuk. I stand for the #HumanRights of people in Ukraine without compromise or hesitation. Верховна Рада України is a key partner for bringing the needs of people in occupied territories & the return of children abducted by Russia back to the top of the agendas.
#Georgia : I am concerned about the compatibility of the draft law “On #transparency of foreign influence” with the #HumanRights to freedom of association and expression.

Very timely discussion on the worrying extent of Afrophobia in Europe and the need to urgently address it across the Council of Europe area.
I was moved to hear youth representative, Roxana Daniela Petrache, saying: “ #InternationalRomaDay is a celebration of our resistance, our pride in our heritage, our struggle but also the progress we achieved as we claim our seat at more tables & work to leave no one behind”.
At the #InternationalRomaDay celebration, I committed to:
🔹champion Romani people's #HumanRights
🔹initiate & nurture an ongoing dialogue with Romani people across Europe
🔹engage with Romani youth
🔹support Romani women and girls as agents of change

Spent this afternoon at the fascinating exhibition of ‘tronie’ paintings at National Gallery of Ireland These sensitive respectful portraits honour the dignity and individuality of each of the sitters. A good experience/reminder on the day before I take up my new role as Commissioner for Human Rights
