Can’t express how proud I am of this pharmacy resident & student completing this project from start to finish with little more than guidance from me. If your patient has <16 more likely to fail transition to SQ regardless of anion gap accpjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ph…

Why is torsemide my preferred loop diuretic when treating heart failure?

As a follow-up to a recent tweetorial on furosemide and gut edema, let me offer a 3-part ode to torsemide.

Saw this quote today - β€œRemember when you wanted what you currently have.”

In medicine, I feel like it’s sooo easy to focus on what you haven’t accomplished than what you have. Putting this out there in case anyone else needs this reminder too! πŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

All ICUs and most floor beds in the valley are full. Soon we will be boarding patients in the ERs. A true crisis is imminent.

β€œAs we open up more ICUs, we're not making more ICU doctors. We're not making more ICU nurses or hospital staff or hospital physicians,” says Eddie Stenehjem, an infectious disease specialist in Utah. to.pbs.org/2TyVdrn

This is NOT ok. It is maddening that we are planning to ration care in Utah. Unacceptable. We must do EVERYTHING we can to slow spread. No excuses. sltrib.com/news/2020/10/2…

Elegant reminder mortality isn't the only stat that matters. Tired of hearing COVID mortality is 'only' ~1%. Stakeholders should understand these illnesses can still ravage survivors.

It hasn't even been 24 hours since RBG passed away and the Republicans are already plotting how to get a new nominee appointed before November. She deserves more respect than that.

Vote. Them. OUT.

Why do we feel cold (i.e., experience 'chills') when we have a fever? Shouldn't we feel hot?

And what are rigors?

Answers to these questions will help us better understand when we should obtain blood cultures.

When do you think is the best time to draw them?
