That's me at the golden 72-hour mark. Quit complete. Onto the 'don't start it again' stage now. Still feel like Humza Yousaf stole my thunder with that big 'oooh look at me I'm resigning' performance on my quit day but whatever.

It's not embarrassing, it's expected. I'm a Catholic in Scotland, in the media industry, believe me I know this country has issues around religion. But lots of countries do. We're not unique or immune. How we handle these skirmishes shapes the country we're becoming.

I suspect Kate Forbes will do the same thing now as she did a year ago when Twitter was full of hysterical meltdowns about her faith: ignore it and carry on. Good on her.

Humza Yousaf seems a lovely guy. Cares for his family, his country, his principles. But he should never have been First Minister and there are plenty in the SNP who knew that a year ago. They've done nothing to prepare a successor. Safe Hands Swinney is hardly an exciting moment.

When Humza ended the Bute House Agreement I assumed it was part of a plan. Like, I assumed he'd have thought about it and begun laying the groundwork for minority government. But it seems there was no plan. It wasn't bold, it was idiotic. Directionless. Pointless. It's bizarre.
