This beautiful female Orange tip was spotted at one of our nature reserves. They prefer damp habitats but can be regularly spotted in gardens 🌸

The Swifts, Apus apus are coming back 🥰 Apart from breeding season, Swifts spend almost most of their lives on the wing. Feeding, sleeping and even mating whilst flying... what skills!

🦎 Did you know that the Slow worm, Anguis fragilis is a legless lizard despite the name? As the weather is warming up, you will start to see them coming our and basking in the sun 😎

Breeding season for slow worms starts in May so you may see some intertwined with each other

🦆 Let's call it a duck weekend! A Garganey, Spatula querquedula has been spotted at Seaton Wetlands 🥰

A beautiful summer migrant which has travelled from Africa. There is estimated to be around 100 breeding pairs (BTO). Making it a rare bird.

This gorgeous species of duck visited our Seaton Marshes recently 🦆 The Gadwall, Mareca strepera is slightly smaller and slimmer than our common Mallard.

They feed in the shallows of water bodies which is called 'dabbling' .. what a great word 🤓

Worried about the weather? Don't be! We have the use of our amazing Reedbase centre which will be warm and dry but with the benefit of being surrounded by our amazing nature reserve! 🌿

We had two special guests last week who attended (be it, briefly) our Bluebell Day event at Holyford Woods. The White storks, Ciconia ciconia were spotted flying overhead as our visitors waited to go on their guided walk.

We've started seeing our Sedge Warblers, Acrocephalus schoenobaenus back at Seaton Wetlands. Beautiful species with their strong, pale supercilium.

The Sedge is one of the three most common Warblers we get here, including the Reed and Cetti's🎶

🙌🏼 Wild East Devon would like to thank all our volunteers for helping at our Bluebell Day event that we held at #holyfordwoods last Saturday. It was a fantastic and busy day. The sun came to greet us which we very much needed!
