Me and the 9-year-old had a superb trip to National Coal Mining Museum yesterday. You go 140m down into an actual coal mine, in a rattling cage, and the guides are ex-miners. It’s bloody amazing. #Yorkshire

The loveliest polling station of my voting life so far: Nether Edge Bowling Club. The bar was closed, but otherwise a cracking experience all round.

I’m sad Chris Sansom has died. York Theatre Royal he let us transform ‘Sovereign’ into a play by Mike Kenny, dir. by Juliet Forster, Mingyu Lin & John R. Wilkinson.
He didn’t need to let us adapt his book.
But he was “a good man in trying times”.
