Stanford Reservoir - was away on Saturday when the 5 Black Terns were found so plsd to get it back today with a single bird on the patch. Also, Cuckoo, Hobby, Shelduck, 2 Goldeneye. Roe Deer as well which are pretty scarce. Stanford_RG Birds of Leicestershire & Rutland

Sunday highlights - Green Hairstreak at Llanymynech Rocks, 5 Common Sandpipers, 2 flocks Dunlin and Barn Owl on the overnight recorder over Penrhyn Bay and some shocking scenes at RSPB Conwy where Shelduck Testosterone was very evident! 100+ Shelduck present on the estuary.

Also at Elswick today, my first ringed Shelduck there, but only a metal ring, no colour ring (it did show its other leg briefly, no ring!). Only ring # I could read was BTO & starting 'G' - is that enough to identify the scheme / ringer, if not the individual bird? Les Hall

My quest for a Whinchat or Wheatear this morning was unsuccessful so I am going to go out for an extra walk! This morning's highlights: 2 reeling Grasshopper Warblers, Reed & Sedge Warblers, RBunting, Yellowhammer, Whitethroats, Shelduck, Common Sandpiper, GCGrebe, Kestrels

Marsh Harrier, Common Gull and BlackWit this morning at made braving the weather worthwhile. Best of the rest across the reserve 55+ Avocet, 4 Oystercatcher, 3 LRP, Sand Martin / Swallow flock, Sedge & Reed Warblers, 9 Shelduck, drake Pochard. Usual other waterfowl.
