It's a rite of passage we all go through. Like a bat mitzvah, but with way more Bikini Kill and Hole blaring on the dance floor.

Moti Black (She/her) 🏳️‍🌈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @ASpiffyPeachie Also, a lot of folks say things like 'Cure autism!' without thinking those ideas through to their natural conclusions. They may not *realize* that they're advocating for erasing an entire set of people from existence, but that *is* what 'curing autism' would do. /1

AskAubry 🦝 I'm infertile myself. I'm also about to become an aunt. The agreed-upon plan in my family has always been for me to be very involved in helping to raise the kid.

I still cannot imagine what level of egocentrism I'd have to reach to actively try to turn my niece into my daughter.

AskAubry 🦝 The most charitable interpretation of Husband's behavior that I can imagine is that MIL trained him to believe that he's not allowed to have boundaries with her.

Which sucks, but just because he's bad at boundaries does not oblige his wife to follow suit.

The Tennessee Holler Mike Moon Christian Greco Yeah, I'll bet they are still married.

Because they were conditioned from childhood to stay married to their pedophile husbands.

Which is the literal definition of grooming.

Velvet ADHD Memes In other words, the mental hyperactivity is the biggest cause of executive dysfunction for many of us, not a separate phenomenon that happens to coexist alongside executive dysfunction.

Joseph Kolber music struggles & wins People who find petty reasons to harass others want to feel like they have some measure of power, however small or fleeting. When their targets refuse them that power, it just compounds the anger they manufactured to justify the attempt to assert dominance in the first place.

Moti Black (She/her) 🏳️‍🌈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @ASpiffyPeachie And that needs to be pointed out to them. Many people aren't in the habit of thinking about the ramifications of getting what they wish for, or don't even know how to. And that's part of why we are where we are as a society. /2

Edward M. Gordon The San Jose Improv Adam Conover Aaaaand I just got distracted from adding all the other reasons why Dad was so thrilled when my husband and I got engaged, because said husband held his phone up and showed me this: instagram.com/reel/C6HjhEvgF…

Because of course he did.

skeem music struggles & wins Thankfully, most people who interacted with me in any way -- and the money I'd walk away with after an hour or so -- indicated the opposite about my actual skill level and added value. But the level of vitriol that some people hurl at buskers here is well beyond the pale. /2

skeem music struggles & wins As a former American busker, this English Karen was downright civil compared to some of the people who used to harass me. Literally screaming at me to shut up, shouting about how 'terrible' they thought I was while making a huge display of plugging their ears . . . /1

Velvet ADHD Memes For me and a lot of folks I know with 'primary inattentive' ADHD, the I in 'ADHD-I' may as well stand for 'internal'. The hyperactivity happens mostly inside our heads -- an endlessly swirling tornado of thoughts that's so overwhelming, we can't focus on starting or ending tasks.
