I just found out Bernard Hill (Theoden) passed away. RIP to a great actor who beautifully portrayed one of Tolkien's best characters.

Bernard Hill’s portrayal of Yosser Hughes was one of the most important cultural moments of the 80s. He symbolised the destruction of human dignity by dead-eyed Thatcherism. If only we had the same heft of working class writers and actors now to address today’s inequities. RIP

So sad to hear about the death of Bernard Hill.

Having watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy at least 10 times - it’s ALWAYS this scene that I love most.

His portrayal of King Théoden is just incredible - what a legacy to have.
