On Europe Day, a day dedicated to unity and peace across Europe—a peace that Ukraine is bravely fighting to preserve—I spoke with Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський. We discussed EU accession, regional cooperation and security. I also confirmed participation in the upcoming Summit on Peace in Ukraine.

Today, on Europe Day, I awarded Commissioner Johannes Hahn with the Order of Honour for his strong support for Moldova, championing our European journey, strengthening of our institutions and consolidation of democracy.

On 9 May 1945, Europe began its journey to peace, leading to its rebirth through the creation of the European Union.

Today, maintaining peace is our priority, and on Europe Day, from Moldova’s main square, I reaffirmed our commitment to joining the EU, a peace project.

Inspired by the curious, bright minds at Universitetet i Oslo, where we discussed Moldova, our determination to stay part of the free world, security challenges facing the entire continent, and the imperative to support Ukraine as it fights for the values we hold dear.

A strong and democratic Moldova is a key piece of the European security puzzle, and I am grateful to Norway for its consistent support of our democracy.

This morning at Norad, I addressed Norwegian energy companies, inviting them to engage in Moldova’s energy transition.
