1/ Breeding Bird Surveys report, published yesterday, focussed on the impressive role of volunteer birders over the last 30 years. Since 2017, #UplandRovers has been employed within BBS to increase coverage in hard to reach places. Coverage in Scotland has really grown as a result.
Data from 30 years of Breeding Bird Surveys has sadly shown UK wide declines for aerial insectivores.

129 BBS squares were surveyed across Northern Ireland in 2023 by 82 volunteers. Over 30 years, 287 people have surveyed for BBS across 230 sites! If you were one of these volunteers, thank you very much.

Irish Cuckoo Update - Fantastic news!All three tagged Cuckoos are now back at their breeding grounds in Killarney NP.
