How do we get our 50 ft. x 50 ft. Tainter gates to their final location? One piece at a time. Last week, the 27,000 pound skin plate was delivered by the USACE contractor to the FM Area Diversion. The pieces are being delivered by nine separate trucks.

Our staff will perform an exercise on the Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam Tainter gate, Thursday morning. The purpose is to maintain the mechanical components and clear any debris that may have collected in front of the gate and under the water. #BuildingStrong #USACEMVD

Our Northern Headwaters’ staff participated in an #EarthDay event hosted by the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. Park Rangers staffed tables throughout the event, providing activities including explaining how a dam works as well as their potential dangers.
