This is tragic. Measles is still deadly worldwide, but I really didn't think I'd see this in my career in Ontario.

I really hope people reconsider if they/their kids aren't vaccinated against this deadly virus.

Saw a letter from a local school to parents, pleading with them to keep sick children at home.

The school is struggling to function.

We’re more than 2 years into ‘living with’ Covid. When can we expect this to be actually doable?

Kids are sick. This is a huge driver of absences.

Repeatedly infecting parents & caregivers w/ COVID will also impact kids’ attendance.

Parenting tasks take energy, self-regulation & attention - all are taking direct hits & will likely impact capacity.

Outcomes are connected

Doing some preliminary research for an awareness campaign and looking for CANADIANS who have been infected with Covid or another airborne infection in a hospital and healthcare setting.

Woke up this morning to the Metro Morning news and Dr. Isaac Bogoch warning us that measles is a problem here -- that people are bringing it back from travels and that people are intentionally un-vaccinated.

“The school will then have 20 air purifiers to use this year – enough for every classroom and the library, Vigh said.
Having the equipment to monitor air quality locally, as well as air purifiers to create a safer indoor space, is critical, she said.”

Back to normal? Not so much. Emergency supply teachers are not qualified educators, and they have been in classrooms far more than ever before.

A reminder that @sflecce let Ontario students miss out on more in-person learning than any other children in Canada.

Evidence-based solutions like smaller class sizes, #CleanAir , outdoor spaces, & high-quality PPE were ignored.

It's not difficult to ensure clean air in your spaces. When you measure the CO2, you can use that data to make decisions about ventilation (open windows/doors) and filtration (CR box on). And then you can celebrate your #CleanAir success and get busy making some art!!!

The data tell a story of illness & missed learning for so many students. Telling students to come to school sick does nothing to solve the problem. Schools aren't back to normal in the UK & we know the data will show they aren't back to normal in ON. #CleanTheAir #OntEd
