.Senator Tim Kaine and I put forward an amendment that would simply require experts at the U.S. Department of Transportation to confirm that adding additional flights at DCA wouldn’t endanger the public.

My colleagues objected to even allowing a vote on that. It’s incredibly disappointing and dangerous.

Delays at one airport lead to delays at another.

DCA already is one of the most crowded and delayed runways in the country – why would we create more problems here and across the country by forcing more flights onto the tarmac?

During Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to remind folks that we created the 988 Crisis Helpline a few years ago – a critical resource that immediately connects those in crisis to support via text, call, or chat.

Now, help is more available than ever for folks who need it.

It’s clear that the lack of affordable child care is a crisis for families across Virginia.

I’m proud that we passed significant increases for several federal child care programs earlier this year, and I’m committed to getting more done, too.

'That main runway [at DCA] is the busiest runway in the United States.' Senator @TimKaine points out 20% of DCA flights are delayed an average of 67+ minutes, with a very high cancellation rate. All that congestion creates real safety concerns. Congress shouldn't make it worse.

Lawmakers trying to force more flights into DCA are making an irresponsible and dangerous mistake.

We have already seen near-misses on the runways and consistent delays. Why would we exacerbate those issues?

Big news: we announced $55 million to expand affordable housing in Virginia yesterday… and now another $98 million today!

This is a big issue impacting communities across the Commonwealth, but we’re working to get every federal resource available to help address it.
