We continue to see an alarming influx of starving Brown Pelicans – 40+ delivered in last week to our two California clinics: Hopefully this is not a repeat of the 2022 Brown Pelican crisis, when we treated more than 350 weak and emaciated pelicans.

🙏 Volunteers are a critical part of the work we do every day at Bird Rescue. In 2023 alone, these amazing individuals contributed a staggering 26,482 hours of their time working in the clinic, engaging with the public at outreach events and school presentations, handling calls…

Recent reports of increasing number of emaciated Brown Pelicans coming into care, serve as a stark reminder that our work in wildlife rehabilitation never truly ends.

After 43 days in rehab, this Black-legged Kittiwake flies free! Manhattan Beach Animal Control found the bird listless on the sand, unable to fly. In care, she recovered from hypothermia, emaciation, dehydration, anemia, and a wound on her left foot.
