My 5km walk around the Hugset Wood area this morning had 32 singing Chiffchaff and 4 Blackcap. Arrivals from yesterday/overnight. Also, a few patches of Toothwort through. Barnsley Birders

50-60 Curlew in a flock landing in a sheep field at Carlecotes yesterday. A build up on the in-bye land before forming territories on the moor. Not seen a flock of that size in our recording area before. Barnsley Birders Hudds BWC Martin Wells

Around 120 Pink-footed Geese in from the east and landed with Grey Lag and Canada Geese in fields just west of Ingbirchworth Reservoir at 1100. Barnsley Birders Hudds BWC Martin Wells
Sparrowhawk in the garden yesterday and one Blackbird less! Sparrowhawks are not seen as often now and probably a drop in population in the Barnsley area. Raptor Group think 50% less. Barnsley Birders Hudds BWC Donnybirding
