Since being elected, Abbott has weakened Texas’s gun laws and prioritized the gun lobby’s extremist agenda over the safety of Texas families.

13 years ago today, we watched Captain Mark Kelly launch on his final mission with NASA, commanding the Space Shuttle Endeavour. It was just a few months into my recovery, but I wasn’t going to miss it for anything.

In just a few days, the NRA will be back in Dallas spreading their extremism at their annual convention.

Two years ago, ten people went grocery shopping in Buffalo, NY, and never made it home to their families.

They were shot and killed in a racist attack by a gunman who was radicalized online. Three others were shot and injured.

The gunman drove hours to target the only grocery store in a predominantly Black neighborhood in Buffalo, New York.

Today, I'm thinking of the lives that were forever changed at a shopping mall in Allen, Texas exactly one year ago.

We have consistently seen how gun violence and white supremacist hate destroys lives. Our leaders must do more to prevent extremists from accessing guns.

Changing an illegal gun-making machine’s name and paint color does NOT make it legal.
