New installed capacity for 2023 is estimated at around 73 GW = 18% increase on 2022 figures.

Happy to take part of the #PentalateralEnergyForum 's ministerial meeting today, where 🇦🇹🇧🇪🇫🇷🇩🇪🇱🇺🇳🇱 &🇨🇭announced their joint ambition to decarbonize their electricity system by 2035, an important step towards a joint path to decarbonize the industrial heart of Europe🇪🇺.

The new Energy Efficiency Directive enters into force today.

It sets a bold target: reducing the final energy consumption in EU by at least 11.7% by 2030.

To put it into perspective, we could save what Spain currently consumes in 1 year.

Climate change is man-made. So it means we can address it.

For this we need innovation, investments in green technologies, renewable energy capacity and energy efficiency.

This requires more investments.

At the G20 I invited leaders to join the call for global carbon pricing.

We have political momentum we can use to progressively move to make a meshed #offshoregrid in the North Seas a reality. Tomorrow, ENTSO-E will host a High-Level Electricity Grids Forum, where we can accelerate EU #electricity #grid progress. Stay tuned!

I welcome the provisional agreement with the Parliament & Council on an enhanced set of rules on #renewableenergy .

We achieved an ambitious compromise. Revised #RED is a key component of the #FitFor55 & an important step in delivering #EUGreenDeal & #REPowerEU .

A stronger #EU framework on #EnergyEfficiency will help us stay the course to reach our 2030 energy & climate goals.
