Breeding Waders in Wet Meadows 2020 (1/2)

Waders have been having a hard time of it, particularly when their traditional nesting sites have been “improved”. That’s why this survey is important, it will give a snap shot of how they’re doing in 2020.

Is this eggshell toxic?! An egg of the most poisonous bird in the world - Hooded Pitohui are one of several species which use toxins usually found in poison arrow frogs. Their skin & breast feathers are covered in batrachotoxins so it is likely some is transferred to their eggs!
